Ganesh Chaturthi, the most awaited festival in India, specially in Western India. The prayers, festivities, food, entertainment, music, dancing for the Lord Ganesha, who is loved by one and all…..it is like movie going on. All this is most welcome and loved ; however .the only thing to avoid is using non-eco friendly idols ; the ones which do not dissolve easily in water; immersing edible sweets, flowers (sometimes in plastic bags!) in the sea, throwing fruits , sweets etc on the roads in the procession while going for immersion. All this leaves the city shores and roads choked. The city aches to breathe freely.
Ganeshji would’nt like it either. He comes to bless us and leaves satisfied. We have to ensure ; in all this process….the earth, the air and the people are not left choked. Enjoy the festival. Keep the city and sea shores neat.
Ganpati Bappa Morya!
